Eagle Engineered Solutions Enters Agreement with Siemens Energy, Inc. Eagle Engineered Solutions (Medina, Ohio) and Siemens Energy Inc. (Orlando, Florida) have entered into a strategic Development Collaboration Agreement (DCA) to further develop 3D printed / Additive Manufactured (3DP/AM) ceramic cores and patterns for Industrial Gas Turbine and Aero-derivative applications. In addition, Siemens has made an equity investment in Eagle through next47, Siemens’ venture capital advisor and catalyst for external startups. Eagle’s president, Mike Hascher stated, “We are extremely pleased to have such a distinguished strategic and financial partner in our development of IGT ceramic core development. Our DCA and Siemens’ investment further validates the use of 3DP/AM technologies for casting development and advanced turbine blade and vane designs only possible with additive manufacturing technologies”. Co-owner, Bill Buckley commented, “Siemens shares our vision of accelerated development of our ceramic core and tool-less pattern manufacturing that allows OEM’s and investment casters truly be First to Market”. Hascher, explained, “We’ve focused our efforts for the past seven years on bringing true solutions for investment casters utilizing 3D printing technologies. Global Turbo-machinery manufacturers and Investment Casters have recognized the benefits of 3D printing technologies that allow them to reduce costs and lead times”. Paul Garbett, Siemens’ Director Large Gas Turbine Engineering added, “The continued development of additive manufactured cores, patterns and molds will allow Siemens Energy to optimize large gas turbine component design without the constraints of today’s manufacturing methods. We are looking forward to utilizing Eagle’s current capabilities and developing new 3D printing/additive manufacturing technologies.” Stefan Schell, Siemens’ manager Manufacturing Development and Industrialization summarized, “Eagle’s technology perfectly fits into our manufacturing development and industrialization strategy. Beside rapid prototyping of advanced core design there is a significant potential to reduce engineering lead times. Combined with our other advanced core manufacturing technologies we have now unlocked the ability to produce and test high efficiency airfoil designs in a timely manner.” About Eagle Engineered Solutions Eagle Engineered Solutions is a global supplier of 3D Printed/Additive Manufactured products and services to the global metal casting industries with specialization in investment casting and sand casting applications.
