William began his aerospace career in 1966 with Pratt & Whitney. After working with Pratt for 8 years, he moved to Philadelphia forging for a while before he settling in at Arwood in 1976. Arwood became Wyman Gordon which later became PCC. In early 2001, he started at Miller Castings as a global Sales Representative. From 2003 to 2016 William was instrumental in the growth of Miller Castings on various commercial and military programs. He retired with Miller Castings in 2016. Still active through 2021, he consulted for local machine shops near his home in Connecticut. Mr. Smith passed away December 8th, 2022. He will be remembered by everyone that crossed his path with as he served in our industry for 55 years. Past ICI Executive Director, Michael Perry stated, "I’ve had the privilege to have known and worked with Bill Smith for nearly 50 years. His extensive work career included assignments at Pratt & Whitney, Arwood Corporation, Jetshapes Inc., Wyman Gordon, SeaCast, Inc. and Miller Castings. Bill was always a true sales professional in the aerospace investment casting industry. His work dedication along with outstanding customer and program knowledge, led to many company successes. The industry will certainly miss Bill Smith and I will miss a friend. I wish Bill’s wife, Linda and family all the best and hope they find peace and joy in many great memories."
