REMET has embraced the challenge of the current COVID-19 pandemic by holding webinars for existing customers and potential future customers. The online webinars cover topics appropriate for engineers, apprentices and lab technicians on wax and shell materials as well as testing. Gavin Dooley, REMET Group Technical Director, describes the webinar as a “perfect lockdown” activity – “As many engineers and support staff are currently in isolation, we thought it would be the ideal time to provide the opportunity for some extra training.” With the power of teleconferencing systems like Zoom™ and GoToMeeting™, REMET believes the technology is there to reach out to a wide audience from home offices. Due to the depth of the technical expertise within REMET, the series has been delivered by different presenters on different topics. Dooley goes on to explain, “We believe we’ve put together trainings that offer something for everyone. We have combined basic content for those finding their feet in the industry with advanced insights and topics which will push more experienced attendees to rethink how current materials are used and to make impactful process improvements”. Oguz Özyoldas from Gür Metal Casting, based in Turkey, who attended the conference described how the webinar has helped them during the current lockdown situation in Europe – “The webinar series is very informative, well delivered, and has already allowed us to learn more about the materials we use in our foundry every day”. To date, four webinars have been held for European customers with more planned for May. A similar schedule is planned for US customers beginning 7th of May.
